Bring your young artist to the Gardens starting May 4 as we kick off Saturday Art Classes for Kids from 9:00-10:30am. For the adult aspiring artists, the Gardens will offer Monday Morning Adult Watercolor Classes starting May 6 from 8:45-10:15am and Wednesday Morning Adult Drawing Classes starting May 8 from 8:45-10:45am. On May 7, the Gardens will honor teachers of all levels with National Teacher Day from 3:30-5:30pm. Keeping the educational spirit in mind, the Medicinal Garden will present a special feature dedicated to teaching awareness about Arthritis and Osteoporosis on May 11 from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Cultivate your creative side by exploring a variety of different art classes offered at the Gardens! Taught by professional artist Joan Saba, you are guaranteed to create an exquisite piece of work. Saturday Art Classes for Kids are a fantastic way for your child to express him/herself by creating their own artistic masterpieces! These multi-medium classes are for kids ages 5-15. Costs for children of Garden Members & Non-Members are $30 per series or $11 per class.

Adults will have the opportunity to join us starting with Monday Morning Adult Watercolor Classes. Both novice and veteran artists are welcome! Wednesday Morning Adult Drawing Classes are another fun and creative way to express your inner artist! All skill levels are welcome to come create beautiful drawings with inspiration from the gardens! In honor of National Teacher Day, on May 7, the Gardens will offer free admission for teachers from 3:30-5:30pm. Encourage all the teachers in your life to take their knowledge outside the classroom and reward their hard work with the beauty that is the Gardens. Just show your school ID badge and come see what we have to offer. Teachers can enjoy a free tour, science demos and much more!

The month of May is Arthritis Awareness and Osteoporosis Awareness Prevention Month. On May 11 from 10:00am-2:00pm, the Medicinal Garden will host a special feature with the purpose of educating garden visitors about recognizing and treating symptoms through botanical methods. Activities include; educational presentations and displays about prevention, identification and treatment of arthritis and osteoporosis; botanical displays of plants from which current medications are derived from and which future medications are being researched. Health Screenings will also be offered by Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health.

The Medicinal Garden is made possible by D’Youville College School of Pharmacy and Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health. The Medicinal Garden feature is included with Garden admission.
