SOLD OUT!
Sorry! This event is currently sold out. Keep an eye out on our social media pages for updates on when our next Kokedama Workshop might be happening at the Botanical Gardens!
Join us in creating a beautiful string garden or decorative display, through Kokedama! Kokedama is the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss-covered ball of soil. It is often wrapped with string or filament fishing line. They can be used to create beautiful displays on a decorative surface or hanging in a window. Join us in creating a beautiful string garden!
Meet your instructor, Ellie!
Ellie joined our team in August 2022 as our Educator and Volunteer Coordinator. After growing up nearby in Akron, NY, Ellie went on to continue her education at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Education and Interpretation. After graduating in the midst of the pandemic, she traveled and found a passion for educating people about environmental science and community outreach in Syracuse and Colorado before moving to the city of Buffalo. Ellie has a passion for all aspects of the natural world, with special interests in prehistoric plants, birds of prey, and mycology. She has recently completed her Masters of Education in Science Communication at the University at Buffalo and enjoys cooking, traveling, kayaking, hiking, and hanging out with her cats and tortoise in her free time!
