Get into the autumn spirit in this Pumpkin Watercolor Workshop, where watercolor pencils and Micron pens come together to create vibrant, expressive pumpkin illustrations. In this guided class, you’ll learn how to sketch and ink your pumpkin using fine-line Micron pens, then bring it to life with watercolor pencils activated by water.
This class is best suited for students with a general knowledge of watercolor techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, lifting, and how to execute a flat wash.
Meet your instructor, Liz!
Liz Gatto is a new face at the Botanical Gardens, joining our team in April of 2023 as our Educator & Art Specialist. Liz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with Museum Studies from Niagara University. She is passionate about museum education and is excited to bring her creativity to the Botanical Gardens. Prior to joining the team, Liz worked in the department of Art and Family Programs for several years at Artpark in Lewiston, NY and has interned with multiple galleries including the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Liz is also an artist herself, her love for botany and nature shines through her personal artwork. She is very much looking forward to getting the public inspired by the gardens and offering creative workshops. In her spare time Liz enjoys drawing, painting, traveling, drinking coffee, visiting museums, and taking care of her many houseplants!
