The Patio Garden
Patio Garden All seasons
This garden includes magnificent greenery and blooms during the warm months and provides interesting shapes and winter foliage during the cold months.
What can you find in the Patio Garden?
Cutleaf Japanese Maple, Acer palmatum
This small tree gets its common name from its deeply dissected leaves. Its foliage is a deep reddish burgundy. Japanese maples in general are known for the wide range of variety in leaf shape and color.
Sweetshrub, Calycanthus floridus
Our patio garden is home to our beautiful sweetshrub. It produces wine-red flowers in early spring, occasionally lasting through summer. The flowers can be quite fragrant, though the scent varies from plant to plant. The sweetshrub is often recognized by its unusual urn shaped seed pods that emerge green before turning brown in the fall.
Weeping Colorado Blue Spruce, Picea pungens ‘Glauca Slenderina Pendula’
This weeping variety of spruce is known for its blue foliage. Needles emerge silver in spring and remain blue throughout the winter. Its unique shape adds interest to the garden through all seasons.
