European Beech Grove
Fagus sylvatica
The Peace Garden is home to our grove of European beech trees – our favorite spot to rest in the shade on a hot day!
Do you know the difference between American and European beeches?
- European beech trees are known for their beautifully smooth, slate grey bark.
- They are very popular ornamental trees and are often found in parks in temperate regions throughout the world.
- Unlike American beech trees (Fagus grandifolia), European beeches are not susceptible to beech bark disease.
