Volunteer

Join our volunteer family today!

Volunteers are an essential component to the day-to-day operations of the Botanical Gardens. Whether guiding a tour group through conservatory, working on new plants for an exhibit, or greeting visitors at a special event, the time and talent of volunteers helps keep the Botanical Gardens up and running smoothly.

There are a number of volunteer roles and opportunities available:

Horticulture
Do you love plants? Looking to get your hands dirty? Horticulture volunteers work under the direction of our team of Gardeners and Horticulturalists. Volunteers work both inside the greenhouses and in the outdoor gardens, performing tasks such as watering, raking, weeding, repotting, deadheading, and more.

We are currently at capacity for volunteers in the horticulture department. We ask that you please consider a volunteer role for another department!

Docents
Docents are an essential part of providing high-quality educational programming to visitors of all ages and abilities. With multiple training tracks available, docents are able to choose which roles and tasks best suit their interests and skill sets. Learn to lead guided tours of the indoor exhibits as a Garden Guide, assist Educators with leading school-aged children as a Field Trip Facilitator, engage general visitors with our fun and informal learning carts as a Station Scientist, or train to do all three! No previous experience in the education field is required.

Special Events
Join the party and help execute fun and exciting events! The Botanical Gardens hosts a variety of events throughout the year for visitors of all ages. Special events volunteers help set-up, greet guests, assist with raffles, activities, and more!

Facilities
Are you handy? Do you like working with tools? Facilities volunteers assist with special projects using skills such as simple carpentry, maintenance, painting, grounds management, janitorial assistance and special event setup.

Administrative Support
Administrative support volunteers assist with clerical and organizational duties such as data entry, mass mailings, photocopying, and other clerical tasks. Computer knowledge is a must.
