This watercolor class is an exciting step in your watercolor journey! It will be co-taught by our two artist educators, Judy and Deanna. Judy Kosinski will start you out in the first two weeks, continuing painting exercises to advance your skills, then as you progress, Deanna Weinholtz will take you through the last two classes. During the last two weeks you will be building on your skills in wet on wet watercolor to create a beautiful sky with clouds. This is a perfect class to help lead you into our Intermediate Watercolor level. Completion of Watercolor l and ll or a good level of experience painting with watercolor is required. In order to maintain the safest environment possible, classes will be offered via Zoom Meeting, a free online audio-visual platform.
All adult classes and workshops are recorded and are available for one week after the class. Therefore, if you miss a class, you will have one week to catch up on the class at your convenience. Review our class information and procedures for more information.
All Watercolor II classes contain the same content. Unless you wish to repeat the material, we recommend you sign up for Watercolor IV.
Please review the Supply List before the start of class.
Meet one of your instructors, Judith Kosinski!
Judith has been creating ever since she can remember and has been teaching all she knows about art and creativity for more than 20 years! She is passionate about all aspects of artmaking and truly loves to help other artists create and grow their skills.
Judy is an experienced and engaging educator; skilled with creative curriculum development, teaching all media in fine art, providing youth and professional mentoring. She most recently worked as an educator for Alden Central Schools for 23 years, teaching art and life skills to grades 9-12, art classes to inmates in a correctional facility, coordinated adult education programs, and organized community-wide art events.
Her passion for painting and drawing is infused in her teaching: “Helping artists find and strengthen their own artistic voice is such an important and rewarding practice” commented Judy, “And teaching with the Botanical Gardens is a wonderful partnership -- I am eager to work with students in this incredibly rich environment filled with natural inspiration!” Judy works in lots of different media herself, with a particular love for watercolor, oil and mixed media.
Deanna Weinholtz is a watermedia artist from Western New York who is best known for her luminous landscapes and seascapes in watercolor and acrylic. Her creations have been displayed in numerous exhibitions and galleries and have won national and regional awards. Many of her creations are featured in the homes of her collectors.
Deanna’s inspiration comes from travels throughout the United States, Canada and Italy. The Kawartha Lakes in Canada is one of her favorite subjects and is frequently featured in her paintings. Observing spectacular sunsets over the water and waves crashing has inspired many of her paintings. Deanna uses large brushes, rags, throwing paint and many other techniques to create spontaneous, intuitive paintings that are a beautiful mix of representational abstract.
A graduate of State University College at Buffalo with a degree in design, Deanna worked as a graphic designer for several years before leaving to raise a family. Her other artistic endeavors included designing and dressmaking of wedding gowns, until her passion for painting pulled her back to full time professional fine art. She shares her knowledge and love of painting through teaching and demos. Deanna is an Exhibiting Member of Buffalo Society of Artists where she serves on the Board of Directors and is Exhibitions Chair, a Signature Member of Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, an Exhibiting Member of Pittsburgh Watercolor Society and an Associate Member of Philadelphia Watercolor Society. www.deannaweinholtz.com
