Meet our Arcangel Gallery artist, Aleah Ford!

Aleah Ford, known for her art as "Moth On The Wall," is a textile artist from Buffalo, NY. Her creations blend artistry and the natural world in the form of textile faux-taxidermy moth and butterfly sculptures.

Aleah holds a Masters in Art Education from Buffalo State University and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Buffalo. Her academic foundation spans various disciplines, including photography, painting, teaching, and technical theatre, lending a multidimensional perspective to her textile artistry.

Inspired by Victorian curiosity collections, the wonders of natural history, elements of fantasy, and the emotive essence of the Romantic Movement, Aleah's work invites viewers to step back in time to an era of exploration and discovery. Her textile sculptures capture the essence of the delicate, yet intriguing creatures while infusing them with a sense of whimsy and nostalgia.

The heart of Aleah's work lies in her deep-rooted fascination with the natural world, nurtured since childhood. For her, nature is not just a subject of study but a boundless canvas for imagination and make-believe. Her sculptures capture the enchantment and wonder she felt as a child, while also inviting viewers to reconnect with their own inner dreamer and rediscover the magic that exists in every corner of the world.

Currently, Aleah balances her artistic pursuits with the joys of motherhood, cherishing the inspiration she finds in the innocence and curiosity of her one-year-old son.
